High Plains Pheasantry and Corvidry is owned and operated by
Mark and Valerie Rosen in
Boone, Colorado. We are located on the
sagebrush and shortgrass prairies of southeastern
Colorado. We have over twenty-three
years of experience in aviculture. Our
main focus is on raising very high quality exotic pheasants and corvid
species.
Most of our pheasants are hatched and raised by
setting hens, which seems to really make for strong healthy chicks.
We feed exclusively Mazuri feeds, and supplement with fresh fruit,
mixed vegetables, and leafy alfalfa. The
corvids get a mixture of Mazuri parrot pellets, cat chow, and lots of
fruit and vegetables.
All of our birds are seamless banded with
Aviornis International seamless metal rings that are registered to our
pheasantry. That way we can
insure accuracy in our lineage and breeding records.
We use a record keeping system designed by Eugene Knoder to keep
track of all of our breeding stock, and offspring.
All the records for breeders, offspring and our setting hens are
kept on our computer, on disk and on paper.
Most of our birds are shipped out in October every year by express
mail. We use standard Horizon
Micro-environment (N.E.S.T) boxes to ship.
