Our Mikado Pheasants are from the
Vaughn, Buchholz, Hensley and Landig bloodlines.
Elegant, long tailed Pheasant
from the forests of Taiwan.
Not to be redundant but
genetic diversity in Mikados is scare at best.
Most of the birds in captivity are from the same few imports and
therefore related to some degree. They
are threatened or near threatened in most of their range.
No bright colors here – just Black and White, but in my opinion they
are every bit as beautiful as the Goldens or Tragopans!!
Our Mikados love to eat
greens and fruits. They also like
to eat most of the vegetation we have planted so we build cages around most of
the plants to protect them. Trios
can work but usually best if paired.
