Satyr Tragopan Pheasants (Tragopan Satyra)

Our Satyr Tragopan Pheasants originate from the Vaughn and Knoder bloodlines.

These are large colorful Pheasant from the mountains of  India, Nepal, Tibet, etc..

Near threatened in most of it’s range.  Probably fewer than 20,000 individuals left in the wild!!

AS with most Tragopans, Satyrs can become very tame.  They are very susceptible to germs and not very tolerant of stress.  They will have no problems handling the coldest of winters but do not do well in hot climates.  They require lots of pen space and a somewhat specialized diet.  Breed best in pairs.  Does not breed until at least the second year.  Hatched best under setting hens.  Males will perform lots of stunning courtship displays.
